The group currently consists of a number sizable, independent operations, with Mr Ian du Plessis the group Managing Director and Mr Glanville Gardiner the group Chairman. These branches cover the whole of South Africa.

Steel Pipes for Africa, are today, South Africa’s leading distributor of structural tube. We are proud to have clients who are market leaders in the telecoms, agricultural, engineering, automotive and mining sectors. Over the last ten years, the Steel Pipes for Africa Group has supplied tubing and steel to a number of major contract and development throughout Southern Africa.

The Steel Pipes for Africa Group has shown great consistent growth in turn over and profitability over the nine years, and this positive growth coupled with the leadership of a dynamic management team, will ensure the groups continued growth and expansion.

1993

The Steel Pipes Group

The Steel Pipes for Africa Group was founded in 1993 by Mr Ian du Plessis, a young dynamic entrepreneur, with the financial backing of Mr Glanville Gardiner, a Johannesburg businessman.

2002

New Acquisition

During 2002, the Steel Pipes for Africa Group acquired a number of Robor Stewarts & Lloyds outlets from Barloworld. This has ensured that the position of Steel Pipes for Africa, in the national market has been strengthened enabling us to face the challenges of trading in South Africa over the next decade with confidence..
